QUOTE (deano @ Jul 17 2018, 02:36 PM)
Bugs me that Regins beat Balor for the final of the UC

We need the Demon King back. Also getting a little tired of Bray/Matt

Sadly Vince loves Reigns and hasn't trusted Balor since his injury. Bray and Matt is alright, could be so much better but writing is so poor with WWE right now I'm sure even the greatest thing can get ruined.

- According to Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer, the reason WWE didn’t have Reigns vs. Lashley close Extreme Rules was the fear of the crowd crapping on the match. “I was told midweek it was the main event and then told it was changed the day of the show for reasons having to do with fear of the crowd crapping on it.”

And this is why I'm so annoyed with the product. If you know the fans won't get behind it, why keep doing it?! Urrgghh.

I have no idea what the company is thinking. Trying to be "out there" but I'm not invested in it. They'll never bring back the NXT fued.

I think that would be the place for me to go to really show what I can do. - Deonna Purrazzo, who was scheduled to start at the WWE Performance Center this week, was spotted outside of Full Sail University before tonight’s tapings.

- During today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez was asked by a caller who he believes the challenger will be. Alvarez speculated that Samoa Joe would challenge Styles for the WWE Championship at the event.

- TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champion Ayako Hamada, she was the latest wrestler to get caught up in her own demons. Hamada- the daughter of the legendary Gran Hamada was arrested back on May 13 in Tokyo at her home. She has since been sentenced to 18 months in prison.

- Austin Aries spoke with Belt Collector on a conference call to promote Slammiversary this upcoming Sunday. During the call, Double-A spoke freely about underutilized talent in the WWE, and advocates that if they feel they’re being wasted, to take their talents elsewhere. "I mean listen, if there’s a number of men and women over there who feel they’re in a position where they’re spinning their wheels. Or maybe not getting the opportunities they feel they earned that are immensely talented. I’m not gonna name names but I think anyone in that position who wants to better themselves, I think Impact Wrestling provides a platform at least that’s not gonna tie you down and lock you in and give you the opportunities to actually go and prove that. They go and do that also independently across the world. So you know it’s a unique opportunity. Listen, there’s a lot — they have a huge roster and there’s a lot of talent on there. There’s only so many spots and so many hours of television. So you know I’m sure there are people who feel like they’re getting left out or they’re not getting the shots that they want, and if they find themselves free and clear, it’s cool. There’s a nice vibrate professional landscape right now for people to go out and apply their craft."

Turns out to be not the case:

In an update on the story involving former Impact Wrestling Knockout Ayako Hamada, F4WOnline.com/The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that she actually was not sentenced to 18 months in prison, but rather three years of probation with the possibility of 18 months in prison if she violates her probation.

She also informed the Japanese media, including Toyko Sports, that she's going to be retiring from professional wrestling because of the situation. She is hoping to find work as an interpreter/translator, as she is fluent in both Japanese and Spanish.

- Dave Meltzer has said on the Observer Radio that Dean Ambrose should be back by the end of this summer.

- Dave Meltzer was also asked about the status of Shane McMahon. “There’s no movement to get him back in power, in any kind of power position. He’s just a performer. I don’t know how he’s doing after surgery they haven’t brought him back to TV for whatever reason yet.” “Maybe they just want to get Paige over. They don’t need him on TV. I mean really. Paige is fine in the role. Save Shane for when they’ve got a reason for him to be there and I haven’t seen a reason of late.”

- Scarlett Bordeaux has signed a deal with Impact Wrestling.

- Brad Shepard reported on the Tuesday’s installment of “No Holds Barred” that an idea being tossed around is that WWE could be working with Hulk Hogan on a new podcast or show, similar to the one of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin on the WWE Network.

- Bret Hart issued the below statement via his official Facebook page regarding his brother Owen’s absence from the WWE Hall of Fame and his side of the story when it comes to his differences with Owen’s wife, Martha.
"This past week, I have received multiple requests for comment regarding my recent interview on a podcast and the rebuttal made by Dr. Martha Hart. First of all, I want to express my disappointment in both the Calgary Sun and Calgary Herald for running a gossip-style article and making it front page news when there are more pressing issues in the world to highlight. You are better than that. I listened back to the interview in question and I specifically want to address Martha’s comments about my words being “cruel, reckless, irresponsible, and hurtful”. Stampede Wrestling was an institution in the city of Calgary. Wrestling was our family business. My brothers and I either wrestled for my father Stu or worked behind the scenes. Fans packed the Victoria Pavilion every Friday night for decades. Martha has seemed to have forgotten that she attended those same shows before she met Owen. She was, by definition, a wrestling fan. That same group Martha appears to look down upon and ignore. Earlier this year, Mark Henry took time during his WWE Hall of Fame induction to specifically address Martha. With tears in his eyes, Henry pleaded with her to allow Owen to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. My nieces and nephews were in the audience with tears in their eyes as he expressed how much he deserved to be there with his peers. Fans have told me they had tears in their eyes when they watched the moment on television. Those same fans Martha sat side-by-side with at Stampede Wrestling and WWE events. Those same fans that donate to the Owen Hart Foundation and helped make it what it is today because they remember the joy he brought to their lives and not by how he died. Those royalty checks she receives from the company she says she doesn’t want any part of? Those are also from those same fans. To her, their tears do not matter. To me, that is cruel and hurtful. It is true that Martha and I were close at one time. I was right by her side after Owen’s death until she received her settlement from WWE and proclaimed me a “pest”. Martha later declared herself and her children Harts in name only, called us all “black sheep”, and ceased contact with the rest of the Hart family. She further isolated from us when we all came together in 2010 to honour our father Stu being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and participated in a DVD that celebrated our family (Hart & Soul). Owen’s children do not have a relationship with his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and cousins. One of my nieces, in fact, named her son Owen after him. I do not know Oje and I wouldn’t know Athena if she walked passed me on the street. Owen’s children only know of their father’s family by what is told by their mother, whatever that may be, painting us all with one broad brush. To block Owen’s children from knowing their father’s family, to me, is cruel, reckless, and irresponsible. Owen’s tragic accident almost 20 years ago changed our family forever. Martha lost her soulmate and her children lost their father. You have to remember, however, that I also lost my brother. My children lost their uncle. My grandchildren will only know him through pictures and stories. His peers lost a close friend who filled them with endless laughter through long periods on the road. The fans lost someone that they lovingly connected to. Martha is not alone in her loss and grief. The Owen Hart Foundation is a wonderful charity that has raised millions of dollars and has helped many people in its 19 year history. I am not disputing or denying that whatsoever. I disagree, however, that it should be the sole outlet to remember Owen by. This is not just about Owen being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. This is about his wrestling career, his wrestling legacy, his contribution to the business that he loved and honouring that contribution. Owen Hart was a world-renowned professional wrester, and a damn good one. He was part of the foundation that our family name was built on not just in the city of Calgary but all over the world. For Martha to want to rewrite history, to refuse to acknowledge or recognize his great wrestling career, to brush off what he, myself, and my father did as “that fake stuff” is wrong. Owen Hart was a wrestler. The next generation deserve to know how great he truly was. I am happy to hear that my brother Owen will be inducted into the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame on July 28 in Waterloo, Iowa. My father and I are past honourees. While I will not be in attendance, the Hart family will be well-represented with my brothers Ross, Bruce, Keith, sister Diana, and my nephew Harry Smith accepting the honour on his behalf. Thank you to the Board of Directors for recognizing his wrestling career, his contributions to the wrestling business, and his legacy. I’m sure the event will be filled with laughter, tears, and an overall appreciation for the man that he was. I can only hope that this is only the beginning. Bret Hart x"

- Chelsea Green could be gearing up for a WWE run after all because she was forced to cancel upcoming events for IPW and Choas due to “unforeseen circumstances.” They said the reasoning will be made clear in the next couple of weeks.

- WWE has announced that Stephanie McMahon will return to RAW this Monday to deliver a historic announcement.

- While WrestleVotes indicated Stephanie will probably be announcing a female-only pay-per-view, there may be more to it than that. Not only is there talk that they could have the finals of the Mae Young Classic on the card but they may also be introducing tag team championships, but that is purely only speculation at this time.

- Dave Meltzer reported in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Former WWE Diva Kelly Kelly is interested in a return to the company.

- Dave Meltzer reported in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Alex Shelley’s Ring of Honor contract has expired. Shelley has been out of action since suffering an injury back in June. While out with an injury, Shelley has focused on his schooling until the end of 2018.

- According to Belt Fan Dan the new WWE Women's Tag Team Championship belts are done and made. They will have white straps and similar to the men’s tag team titles only with slight changes.

- Dave Meltzer was asked whether or not Vince McMahon sees Ring of Honor recently booking Madison Square Garden as a threat and whether McMahon would utilize his deep financial pockets to sign ROH’s popular free agents. Meltzer explained that while no one can really compete with WWE, the issue remains with Ring of Honor booking MSG legitimizes them and WWE isn’t really fond on the idea of another wrestling promoting selling out the venue. “I’ve got to think he’s gonna go with that tact. They could have let them do the Garden, if they didn’t care. Obviously he cares because they didn’t let them do it. They tried to block the Garden because of the idea that if the Garden is a big success it opens a lot of doors. It legitimizes them. If you go in there and sell out Madison Square Garden at the ticket prices they’re gonna charge, you’re now a legitimate product. You’re not WWE. You can’t compete with WWE; but, they’re gonna be somebody and they’re gonna be viewed – again because it’s in New York, not Chicago, not San Francisco – it’s gonna be viewed as like, ‘Oh there’s another wrestling company that sold out Madison Square Garden.’ Vince doesn’t want that so the best way to keep them from selling out Madison Square Garden…is The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega, perhaps Marty Scurrl and Adam Page, that whole Being the Elite crew. Realistically they’re probably not going to get [Kazuchika] Okada. I’m almost certain they’re not gonna get [Hiroshi] Tanahashi and they’re not gonna kill New Japan in Japan. That’s not gonna happen; but, Ring of Honor is a different story.”

- While discussing Sunday’s Extreme Rules post-show on The Ross Report, Jim Ross commented on Caremlla’s promo and accused the SmackDown Women’s Champion of going into business for herself. “I think that Carmella in the post-game show that I watched on Extreme Rules, she inadvertently gathered some go away heat. She was over the top. It was awkward in my view. I understand. I appreciate her enthusiasm; but, she kinda went into business for herself, it seemed like, and I think that kinda turned some people off. It didn’t sound really WWE-ish. This young woman has improved a lot. She’s got a great look. She really does. She loves being a heel. That means a lot. This is not a nock on Carmella. It’s just the fact that everybody had these wonderful expectations of Asuka, who just a few months ago at WrestleMania was in one the most desired and eagerly anticipated matches of the night against Charlotte. I think the go away heat had an issue there with Asuka and this whole situation being looked at so negatively and there’s a fine line folks between villain heat and go away heat, a fine line, and I think we saw the other side of that line, not the good sign of that line, in the Extreme Rules post-game show. She might have been a little bit over the top.”

- Stephanie McMahon hasn’t been on Raw since May and she appointed Baron Corbin to stand in for her as the heel authority figure. Now it looks like Steph will return to Raw this week and she will be playing the babyface once again as she makes an announcement.
